Lucky me...

People often  say when life gives you lemons you make lemonade... or in my case you can make all sorts of desserts.. haha!

But people don't often say that when life gives you lemons you will have many ppl offering to help throw the lemons back, squeeze the juice out, zest the skin etc... and these are actually the more important moments... it is times like these that I feel blessed to have the people I have around me.. from friends to newly acquainted colleagues... I have been shown a lot of support, anger on my behalf,  sharing of my frustrations or even getting more frustrated than I am, offers to help, apologies from what they perceived to be partially faulted to them ( which honestly it isnt).

As much as I always tell people that I am an unlucky person and all my achievements are from hardwork and preseverence... I now see that I am lucky... I may not be lucky in winning prizes or having things handed to me out of sheer luck but I am bountifully lucky with the people around me.. people who would stand by me and lend a helping hand or just be there for support. People whom I may have only just known for a few days or months but yet still they offer encouragement and well wishes.

To those of you (you know who you are), thank you for just being you. I am alright,  don't worry coz I am not. Not just yet anyway. It's time for a break, it has been long overdue. 😊

I am officially OLD...... fashioned

Something just happened that made me realised I am actually very "old fashioned" when it comes to matters of the "girl-boy" relationship... I have always thought I was just conservative and somewhat bound by the rules set by my parents...but it seems I am wrong.

Picture this scenario... you just recently started dating this guy for about 2 months or so... prior to that there was a lot of phone conversations but not many actual one-on-one dates. In this context, would you:

1. Go on a weekend getaway with him?
2. Stayover at his place for no specific need (since you live in the same city)?

I think many of you would actually answer "Yes, why not?"

Now this is the point when I realised I am truly very old fashioned in my thinking... putting aside the fact that my parents forbid both scenarios above and although at times I have argued over these rules simply from the perspective that they need to trust me and trust that I wouldn't do anything that is beyond the boundaries set. Of course they have always argued that it isn't me they don't trust it is the guy I am dating... but I digress...

Anyways... what I realised is that I personally wouldn't agree to both the context above so early into a relationship. Perhaps when the relationship is more mature,I wouldn't mind but for a 2-month old relationship I find that doing so is somewhat "cheap" for lack of a better word. I know it isn't fair for me to say that. After all you are already in the relationship and possibly nothing happened during those nights together... but I somehow still feel uncomfortable... Maybe I am just not a random sleepover kinda person or perhaps my mum has drummed it into me for so long and so often that it has changed my perspective on this matter.

So the conclusion to this all.... I am really really old fashioned. Haha!
*and my mum and trained me well* ;)

Are we missing something here Zahra?

The latest thing going viral now is the #sayazahra speech. While I can understand the woes she has highlighted as a fresh graduate and the financial situation she is going through living paycheck to paycheck... what I fail to understand is why she thinks this situation only applies to malays and bumiputras?

I am pretty sure it affects all the youths of her generation. Unless she is insinuating that there is some sort of double standards when it comes to the hiring of graduates or only the malay and bumiputras are poor.

Hmmm....all I can say is I can relate to her plight but it is the same for all races. The high standard of living and non-commensurative remuneration is a problem that impacts everyone.

A repeated attempt

Here we go again.  I have been trying to reinstate my blogging habits to no avail in the past few years. I don't know why but the habit just won't stick but when I look back at my old postings it brings back many fond memories which I never would have reflected upon had I not blogged it.

So here is to me giving it one more go to start blogging again. My little record of things I have done, felt, experienced or reminisced upon.

Wish me luck!!

Sometimes...

There are just times when things just click... and when those times come about... you cherish them... not everyone can make you smile to yourself or laugh like an idiot out loud without even being by your side...So when you do find someone like that, you hang on tight and hope that things always remain the same...

Sometimes things may change but you should always try... because without trying it will definitely change... but if you try... maybe, just maybe it's for keeps...and that is worth trying for.

A little pampering...

Had a not so great week and needed some self indulgence.... went for a pedicure to cheer myself up... helped a bit but my spirits are down... :(

Still thinking when my decision was a mistake. Maybe it really isn't my place... how could things turn so bad in my 7 year absence? How could people get so insecure that having me come in as a manager be a threat to them.

It sometimes hurts to know that as simplistic and innocent as your intent can be, it will still be construed as a malicious act... *shrugs* it's only been 4 weeks and I already feel tired... God help me...

As you can see I am highly disturbed by my current situation. Even pampering does little to ease the troubles in my heart and mind.

I do hope things change for the better... *fingered crossed*

No turning back...

I have decided to be the bigger fish in the pond and forsake the sea.. Is it a wise decision, that remains to be seen.

I am looking forward with excitement but yet worried about what may come. I constantly ask myself, was it the right decision? Will I regret?

I stand here at the brink of leaving a company which I have wanted for many years to be part of. From the day I graduated until that faithful call offering me the position. It was obviously too good to be true that a such a company would come knocking at my door.

Yet, there is this lingering feeling of doubt. Do I not trust myself and my own judgement or am I just afraid of an unknown. Well 10th September 2012 would be the moment of truth.

Wish me luck!

Communications??

I struggle to find the balance of communicating enough and communicating too much.. When is the line crossed?

Maybe I'm naive to think that I should be open about everything that goes on around me but then again I get reprimanded when I don't. I really wonder where is that fine line. Is it me or is it the other at fault? Perhaps it is me. *shrug*
It is a constant balancing act. Then again why should I apologise for being honest and up front?

I really don't know what is better. I used to think that honestly and openness is crucial but then I'm told it's also irritating. Haih.. It's a difficult juggle.

I just need to find my way...

Decisions...

I am once again plagued with a dilemma of decisions...

Should I go or should I stay? Plankton in the sea or Fish in a pond?

Is happiness rated more important than security? Is immediate tangibility more important than potential possibilities? I keep going round in circles on this. I struggle...

Decisions decisions....
